I’m Manveer Singh Tib, a junior at Wakeland High School in Frisco, TX. I’m aiming toward biomedical engineering, and along the way I’ve picked up chess (1700 ELO), robotics, and a habit of building AI tools for problems I think deserve more attention than they get.
The thread running through most of what I build is access: the tools to diagnose and treat disease usually exist somewhere, but they don’t always reach the people who need them. That’s the problem I keep coming back to, in my ISM research and in the platforms I build on the side.
Portfolio Introduction
Independent Study & Mentorship (ISM)
ISM is a Frisco ISD program that pairs students with a mentor in their field of interest for a year of original research and product development. Alongside a research portfolio of observations, interviews, and professional contacts, the program pushes you to build real goal-setting, communication, and public speaking skills, ending in a formal presentation of your original work.
My ISM research is on photodynamic therapy (PDT), light-activated cancer treatment, under Dr. Vanderlei Bagnato at Texas A&M. That research became a 14-page manuscript, presented at the UNT Frisco ISM Showcase and currently pending publication, plus a handful of AI tools that grew out of it. Mentor: Dr. Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato
Dr. Bagnato is a professor of physics at Texas A&M University and a pioneer in biophotonics and photodynamic therapy, with a joint appointment at the University of São Paulo. He’s published 500+ peer-reviewed papers over a 40-year research career, and his work on PDT dosimetry has directly shaped clinical protocols used in cancer therapy today. He’s been generous enough to mentor my research into that work over the past year.
