Weekly Report #7 Week Seven: Balanced Position

This week was relaxed but also a little wonky. We had the PSAT on Wednesday, and I had to drive to Austin on Tuesday for something important. Because of the way this week was set up, I only had two or three tests this week, and Monday was definitely the hardest day for me. I had a great time at the etiquette lunch we had last week, something that I forgot to mention it on last week’s report. Instead of going to Einstein Bagels as we had initially intended, we chose to go to Black Rock Coffee Bar as it had seats. I went with their breakfast burrito, which was considerably smaller than the one I had at Barney’s Brunch House but still fantastic. I also had a chocolatey coffee, which was really nice, and I enjoyed talking to my peers. The etiquette meal was the highlight of my week—well, technically last week, but still a really exciting one—and also getting to play tennis with my friends yesterday, Friday, October 3 was also something that was a high for the week. Despite the fact that I was a little rusty after not playing for so long, I still liked playing and hanging out with my friends. (I also perfected a tennis trickshot that I had been practicing for a long time.) A couple of things on Monday might have been better, but that’s about the only negative aspect of the week.

For ISM, Mr. Ratliff discussed original work with us in class on Friday. He covered the fundamentals, structure, and responsibilities and the three categories of original work. The ISM 2 students also talked about their original work, which was insightful. I’m thinking of making a proposal for cancer related research as my original work and then developing a prototype for my final product. I will focusing on both analysis and synthesis, with a stronger emphasis on the synthesis component. I have to finish a couple more contacts before the contact list is due on the coming Thursday. Furthermore, the meeting with our ISM 2 and Mr. Ratliff is going to be happening next week. I am expecting replies from two of the professors I interviewed, and I hope to hear back from them shortly.
