Weekly Report #9 Week 9 Midgame Momentum: Building Towards Success

With school starting on Wednesday, we had some extra time to unwind and take a break, which made last week a bit more relaxing. I talked about how I had more opportunities to play tennis outside and use any additional time I had for studies. Attending the ISM MeetUP at UNT Frisco this week was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the week; it was an amazing and inspiring occasion. During the event, I worked with my assigned group on a prosthetic limb project that we later presented to the attendees. Sripaadh and I worked together in a bridge-building competition, and our structure was strong enough to support five books which was the maximum. It was a fun and educational experience because of the students’ collaboration and the actual application of engineering ideas. Meeting Mr. Kevin Scott, the Chief Technology Officer of the PGA of America, and Mr. Juan González Flores, co-founder of Astherion, was one of the day’s major highlights. Their perspectives on innovation, design, and technology were really motivating, and I developed a better understanding of the ways that engineering and creativity coexist in the workplace. The opportunity to speak with Dr. Moo-Yeal Lee, an associate professor of biomedical engineering at the University of North Texas, on the sixteenth was another significant highlight of the week. I was interested in his work on creating human tissues produced in a lab as a substitute for animal testing. Additionally, he studied tissue engineering and 3D bioprinting. His concepts of combining biology, engineering, and creativity made it easier for me to see how research may result in useful solutions. I’m glad to report that, other from the fact that my weekends are busier than ever with either important activities planned or schoolwork, particularly this week, I didn’t really have a bad week.

Furthermore, we met with Mr. Ratliff to discuss our original work proposal and our current position on the contact lists. I’ve completed the original work proposal as well as the interview assessment. My fourth interview was with Dr. Moo-Yeal Lee. Unfortunately, Dr. Meckes and I were unable to perform the interview last week owing to some conflicts, but I will attempt to schedule it for this Friday, depending on his availability.
