Weekly Report #17 Week 17: Engineering Checkmate: Winning Through Strategy and Automation (1/6/2025-1/12/2026)

Last week was a productive one, and where I got the opportunity to get a lot done. Last week, I had a couple of tests to start the new semester, including the AP US History final, and a few others for my extracurricular activities and couple of projects for two of my classes. But the majority of my time last week was spent making final adjustments to our Robot before we competed in Meet 3 of the competition on Saturday. In particular, it focused on ensuring that our code for the automation was completed. The week prior was spent on the Teleoperated Period (where the human controls it), and this week was focused on perfecting the automation code. Currently, we have a 6-artifact automation completed and are continuing to refine it to increase the number of artifacts our robot can complete within the 30-second time period. My primary job is working on the hardware and is also facilitating outreach programs for the community. During competitions, I served as the Human player, responsible for placing the artifacts to enable the robot’s retrieval. For meet 3, we won 5 of the 6 matches and placed 9th in the league as a Rookie team, ranking Top 500th and Top 10% in the world. We will continue to make improvements and address any weak areas we identified during the competition.

For ISM, I worked on my poster board for a great deal on Sunday and picked up where I left off during the winter break. I also finalized some props that I will bring along with my poster. I planned to have my computer display OncoScan.AI so individuals interested in my research could test it firsthand. Along with Tonic-Water and UV Flashlight experiment representing Photodynamic Therapy in 4 test tubes. Additionally, I will be making a Resin Block with beads in the middle to represent Cancer and showcase a limitation of Photodynamic Therapy. I will also schedule a meeting with my mentor this week.
